Harish Patel is an Indian actor and model. He has majorly worked in Bollywood movies like Ghatak (1996), Tarazu (1997), Loha (1997), My Son the Fanatic, British movie (1997), Vinashak (1998), Salaakhen (1998), Jadoo (2013), and Lies We Tell (2016). In 2021, He also played a role in Marvel’s Eternals.
Harish Patel was born on 5 July 1953 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Patel appeared for the first time in the Hindu epic Ramayana, playing masculine and feminine roles at the age of seven. He began his career in Mandi, directed by Shyam Benegal, in 1983. Patel worked with Indian stage director Satyadev Dubey from 1994 to 2008. In 1995, he joined the Indian National Theatre and was featured in the play Neela Kamra. His repertoire comprises classical and modern Indian pieces and works by Western authors, e.g., Pinter’s The Caretaker, Sartre’s No Exit, Camus Cross Purpose, Ionesco’s The Lesson, and Mrozek’s Vatzlav.
Harsh is known for his contribution in Hindi film industry. His works includes Biloo Badshah (1989), Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989), Police Public (1990), Thanedaar (1990), Shola Aur Shabnam (1992), Panaah (1992), Sarphira (1992), Aankhen (1993), Bedardi (1993), Andaz (1994), Mohra (1994) etc.
Patel headed up as Eeshwar Dutt in Rafta in 2007, a comedy written by Ayub Khan-Din and directed by Nicholas Hytner at London’s National Theatre for an acclaimed and sold-out critical audience. His credits include The Buddha of Suburbia, China Gate, Mr. India, and Run Fatboy Run. He embodies the trader Raj in all the movies, as they take place in different places. His career as an actor took him across India, performing in the United Kingdom and abroad, notably the United States and Dubai.
Patel debuted with the well-known television series Malgudi Days in 1985. In 1986, he starred in the series Yatra. In 2009, he starred in Coronation Street as Umed, the uncle of Dev Alahan. Patel performed in Mr. Stink in 2012, Gangsta Granny in 2013, The Boy in the Dress in 2014, and Billionaire Boy in 2016, adaptations of David Walliams’ children’s films. His other tv series include Bharat Ek Khoj in 1988, Wagle Ki Duniya in 1989, Gopaljee in 1966, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency in 2008, Baa Bahoo Aur Baby in 2010, Mapp and Lucia, and Four Weddings and a Funeral in 2019.
