The initial life
Prithvi Raj Singh Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi had other sons. He also had an elder brother named Tilak Raj (Tikki) It was Oberoi. From childhood, he started taking a keen interest in the hotel business run by his father. By the time he was twenty years old, his father had greatly expanded his business by establishing himself as a skilled hotelier. He was born into a wealthy family. Since childhood, his father pampered all the luxuries of luxury available in the world. After completing his education, Bikki Oberoi went on a long journey to travel the world as per his father’s wish to get detailed information about the hotel business. During this time, Bikki became aware of the way of living and hospitality of the best hotels in the major countries of the world.

Born into a wealthy family, Bicky Oberoi stayed away from the responsibilities of the ancestral hotel business until he was 32 years old. Currently, Bikki is the Chief Executive Officer, Chairman and member of the Investor Grievances Committee of EIH Associated Hotels Limited.. Apart from this he is the Chief Executive Officer of Mercury Travels Limited, Chairman of Mumtaz Hotel Limited and Managing Director of Indus Hotel Corporation Limited and Chairman of ‘Oberoi Group’.
Bikki Oberoi has a special contribution in promoting the hospitality industry (hotel industry) in India and the world, as a result of which the Indian hotel business today stands at a high position.
In the year 1959, he was married to Guddi, who was from a well-to-do landlord Punjabi family. They gave birth to a son Vikram and a daughter Natasha. Currently, Natasha is currently living with her family in Australia after getting married.
In 2011, at the age of 82, Bikki Oberoi declared that his 47-year-old son Vikram Oberoi would inherit the ‘Oberoi Empire’ and his nephew (son of elder brother Tilak Raj), 43-year-old Arjun Oberoi, spread across the world. The hotel will continue to help them manage the business.
Award and respect
Bikki Oberoi has been awarded the Grand Officer Award ‘Alalavui Wissam’ in 2001 by Morocco’s King Mohammed (VI) for his contribution in promoting tourism and Indo-Moroccan relations.
He was awarded the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by the 6th International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin in the year 2003.
In the year 2004, a special award was awarded by the Department of Tourism, Government of India, for his contribution to the development of the tourism sector in India.
In the year 2007, he was given the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Award for India Business Leader by CNBC TV18.
In the year 2008, he has also been awarded the ‘Padma Vibhushan’ award, a civilian honor of the Government of India.
In 2008, he was awarded the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award by the South Asia Travel and Tour Exchange.
In September 2008, he was awarded the ‘Outstanding Business Leader Award’ by the Chambers of Commerce and Industries and Society of Indian Law Firms.
In November 2008, he was given the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award for the young entrepreneur.
