Sucheta Kripalani played an active part in the Quit India Movement in the year 1942 and laid the foundation for the independence of the country following Gandhiji’s ideals. Sucheta Kripalani ji’s birth, childhood, family – Sucheta Kriplani Biography

Sucheta Kripalani was born on 25 June 1908 in Ambala, Haryana, to a Bengali Brahmin family. She was educated at Indraprastha College in Punjab and later she became Professor of History (Law) of Hindu University, Banaras. She later married Acharya Kripalani, the main leader of the Indian National Congress. Both the families had opposed their marriage as Acharya used to describe himself as Gandhi.

Sucheta Kripalani was a great freedom fighter of India, who not only joined the freedom movement along with Aruna Asaf Ali and Usha Mehta, but also made the British realize their power through their adventurous activities and make women join the freedom struggle Inspired for.

He made his significant contribution to the Quit India Movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi against the British in the year 1942 and visited the riot-infested areas with Gandhiji in Noakhali and helped the women out of the way.

During the Quit India Movement, when all the veteran leaders came under the grip of the British, Sucheta Kripalani showed her intelligence and went underground and carried on this movement for about 2 years. Not only this, Sucheta ji also formed the Underground Volunteer Force and during this time women were also given self defense training.   • In the year 1939, Sucheta Kripalani left her job and entered politics.
  • In 1940, Sucheta Kripalani ji conducted a personal satyagraha and was arrested.
  • In the year 1941–1942, Sucheta Kripalani ji came to the fore with Aruna Asif Ali and other famous women leaders during the Quit India Movement and during this time she was appointed as the Minister of Women and Foreign Affairs of the All India Congress Committee. .
  • From 1942 to 1944, when Sucheta Kripalani ji saw the arrest of big Congress leaders during the freedom struggle, he started an underground movement, however in the year 1944, Sucheta Kripalani ji was arrested.
  • The year 1946 was a great one for Sucheta Kripalani, during which she was appointed as a member of the Central Legislative Assembly. Along with this, she was also elected as a member of the Constituent Assembly.   • In 1949, Sucheta Kripalani was appointed as the representative of the United Nations General Assembly.
  • Sucheta Kripalani ji served as a member of the Provisional Lok Sabha from 1950 to 1952.
  • Sucheta Kripalani was elected to the Lok Sabha from New Delhi parliamentary constituency in the years 1952 and 1957. During this time he was also given the responsibility of the post of Minister of State in the Ministry of Small Scale Industries.
  • From 1962-1967, Sucheta Kripalani was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Mehndaval on a Congress ticket.

Congress leader Kamalanapati Tripathi and C.B. There was a mutual disagreement between the Guptas. And cb Gupta lost in the UP Assembly elections held in 1962 and he did not want Kamalapati Tripathi to become the Chief Minister at all. Hence C.B. Sucheta Kripalani became the first woman Chief Minister of the country on 2 October 1963 with becoming the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and held this post till March 13, 1967 and as a skilled administrator in CM, got the development work done in her state and herself borne out.

While Sucheta Kripalani ji was representing Uttar Pradesh as the Chief Minister, the state employees went on a long strike for about 62 days demanding increase in salary, but Sucheta Kripalani ji was a staunch politician, The workers were adamant on their decision, after which the employees were forced to withdraw their strike. First influenced by communism and then fully Gandhian.

Sucheta Kripalani ji contested from Gonda in Uttar Pradesh in 1967 and was then elected to the Lok Sabha.

After this, Sucheta Kripalani ji retired from political life in the year 1971. And she lived in solitude until her death in 1974.

In the last days of her life, Sucheta Kripalani lived with her husband in Delhi and due to her absence, she donated all her assets and resources to the Public Welfare Committee.
